Port Askaig – the name of a port on the island’s east coast, and not a distillery –comprises theno-age-statement Cask Strength expression, along with an eight-year-old. Each year limited edition aged expressions are added to the range. It starts with Cask Edit, a composition of refill, bourbon and sherry casks bottled at 46% ABV for drinkability and balance. Then there’s also a Bourbon Cask version and Sherry Cask version, a mix of first fill and refill casks, bottled bottled at 54.5% ABV to fully showcase their personality. Whiskybase B.V. Mouth: sweeter than expected now, with really nice caramelized nuts and hints of latte. Dark baked pastry. Then warm hints of petrichor come out, as well as a sharper mineral side and salty ash. Plenty of leafy notes, liqourice, dark chocolate and dried orange peels. A lot of sweet pepper, hints of seashells and a gingery edge. Rather sooty.

Mouth: starts on citrus and vanilla, with dark roasted coffee beans leading to a bitterness. Grapefruit zest. Then oak char and bonfire smoke. Seawater adds to the sharpness. Later some mocha appears. London-based Elixir Distillers is an independent bottler specialising in whisky, predominantly Scotchbut also Japanese, Irish and American whiskies. If any provision of these Terms is held invalid, the remainder of the Terms shall continue in full force and effect. We may sell, license, transfer, assign or in any other way dispose of the Service (including Members) to any third party without any notification to you, e.g. (but without limitation) in connection with any reorganization, restructuring, merger or sale, or other transfer of assets. Nothing in the Terms shall exclude or limit our liability for fraudulent misrepresentation or for death or personal injury resulting from gross negligence or willful misconduct by us.

Everything you’d expect from Islay whisky is here (salty iodine, smoke and minerals), at a rasonable strength and offering good value for money. The Single Malts of Scotland range provides independent bottlings of vintage single malt Scotchfrom many distilleries and at a variety of ages. The smoke is more intense here (Caol Ila with a dash of Laphroaig, I’d say) while the entire profile is a little more vertical and focused on wood spice and a gentle zesty bitterness. Regardless of whether the Service offers the functionality to contribute, you are solely responsible and liable for any content and information that you create, upload, post, publish, link to, duplicate, transmit, record, display or otherwise make available on the Service or to other Members, such as chat messages, text messages, videos, audio, audio recordings, music, pictures, photographs, text and any other information or materials, whether publicly posted or privately transmitted (“Contributions”). Unless mandatory applicable law provides otherwise, your use of and membership to the Service are exclusively governed by Dutch law. We shall first try to settle any dispute over a dram of whisky. Disputes that cannot be settled over multiple drams of whisky shall be solely submitted to the court of Amsterdam, The Netherlands unless mandatory applicable law provides otherwise. No partnership, joint venture, agency, or employment relationship is created as a result of your use of the Service.
