As basic neuroscientists, however, our emphasis remains on the neural mechanisms underlying relations between brain and behavior, rather than on cognitive theories that more naturally belong in textbooks dealing with cognitive neuroscience. Furthermore, every chapter in the book has been thoroughly revised with an emphasis on what we judged to be major advances since 1995. However, I find the book falling a little short in discussions of structure and function in the auditory system (a dozen pages) and somatosensation (a baker’s dozen of pages). The authors' passion for the dynamic field of neuroscience is evident on every page, engaging students and helping them master the material.
