Driving lessons at night – if you have a driving lesson at night, the bonus hours do not count towards your ‘night driving hours’ in your log book. They can only count as daytime driving hours.

Today we’ll cover everything you need to know about log books: what they look like, when you need them, how to get them, how to change their details, etc. There is tons of information to learn, so let’s get started! What is a vehicle log book (V5C) and what does it look like? According to federal law, the driver’s log needs to be returned to the motor carrier within thirteen days. You cannot apply by phone if any of your details or your vehicle’s details have changed. The details must not be different from the information in the missing or damaged V5C.

You can choose to use a digital log book app. It's an easy way to log your hours, learn and achieve your driving goals. You also won't have to worry about losing your log book. If your daily logbook is not up-to-date, you may receive fines from the FMCSA. Because of the fines associated with failure to record driving hours, all drivers should update their driver’s daily log book every day. Essential Elements of a Driver’s Daily Log As an alternative, European Commission officials have confirmed that attestation forms for drivers’ hours records continue to be available and should be accepted in the context of journeys involving EU member states. You'll be given a log book when you are issued your learner licence. You will need to bring your completed log book with you when you take the Driving Test. The records can be used by DVSA as a basis for follow-up enquiries, which may be required where a week’s driving is covered in 1 or 2 entries as opposed to 7 daily entries. Drivers and their operators can in all cases choose to input an entry for each day.

A driver’s daily logbook is where each driver keeps the record of their driving hours. This is not only a safety measure but a federal law. It can be a simple case of parents giving a car to their offspring. Even though the Department of Transport (DOT) doesn’t look at driver’s logs every day, it’s important to fill them out on a daily basis. Failing to fill out the driver’s daily log may cause problems down the road, especially if a driver’s log is not updated when inspected by the DOT. Not maintaining an accurate log can result in severe consequences like the driver’s license getting suspended or other penalties. If you want to use the log properly, follow these steps: The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) is responsible for enforcement of both the EU drivers’ hours rules and the tachograph rules. Where a driver fails to record other work and duties or attempts to hide insufficient rest periods DVSA will take enforcement action. Watermark - Hold up the log book to the light.
