Just like its predecessor, the Digital DDJ-SX, the SP1 has designed and constructed to be strong and sturdy yet lightweight, and to uphold excitable use.

Pressing the pads plays the slices in looped fashion until you release the pad and playback resumes. A single fader knob in the middle controls the volume, three knobs on both sides for controlling FX parameters and a BPM jogwheel make up the main controls of the DDJ-SP1. It also includes a Slip Mode to keep tracks playing muted during live edits such as scratching and looping. After Pioneer DJ debuted the sensational DDJ-SX Serato DJ controller a little while ago, the company has been delivering new technology to suit every use case.

Slip Mode - this allows more accurate and efficient loops, scratches and reverses whilst playback quietly continues, and at exactly the right point, the track is brought back which is all managed by the user. If you’re more of a fan of the Rekordbox software offered by Pioneer DJ, you’re not limited to Serato either. The only difference is that the Velocity Sampler mode alters sample volume according the strength which with you hit the pad, and the regular Sampler mode triggers samples at full volume every time. The Pioneer DDJ-SP1 Controller for Serato DJ is an add-on DJ controller designed for professional and intermediate DJs. The SP1 features a wide range of dynamic performance controls, allowing for truly expressive hands-on performance.The DDJ SP1 also combines Deck and Shift select buttons to show the FX, SP-6, and Record parts of your Serato DJ software. Intended to be used alongside a DVS Serato DJ set-up, this gives you performance pads with seven modes for hot cue, roll, sampler, slicer and loops, slip mode and even Serato Video control, all to liberate you from reaching for the laptop to do these. The Performance Pads includes Velocity Mode which allows the user to manage the sample volume dependent upon the applied pressure. The DDJ SP1 has been developed in partnership with Pioneer and Serato DJ specially for the software Serato DJ or Serato Scratch Live (mapping to do).
