About this deal

Where the existing coating is defective it must be completely removed and the surface prepared as described for new or bare wood above. Diamond Glaze is up to ten times tougher than conventional varnish and is resistant to common chemicals, alcohol and water. Suitable for use over materials such as cork tiles, hardwood and chipboards.

Special precautions should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960's paint surfaces over wood and metal as they may contain harmful lead. Hours - This will vary according to temperature and humidity and will take significantly longer in cold, damp conditions. We will be happy to organise an exchange for the correct goods at no extra charge to yourself, please get in touch to organise this. Faulty Items Stir thoroughly before you begin, taking care not to use a whipping motion, which will introduce air and cause foaming when applied. We recommend always follow the manufacturer's instructions found on the tin. Stir thoroughly, it is recommended that a small test area is applied before treating the entire surface to ensure compatibility.

Light foot traffic is allowed after 24 hours but to prevent possible damage to floor while the full mechanical resistance develops, avoid heavy wear and do not replace carpet or rugs or move furniture for at least 7 days after application. Do not apply Dulux Trade Diamond Glaze in temperatures of 10°C or lower or in areas of high humidity or condensation.

Seal new or bare wood by applying one coat of Diamond Glaze Clear Varnish to help reduce variations in absorbency, which can lead to differences in colour and sheen New or bare wood: Sand the surface in the direction of the grain to remove any imperfections etc. and remove residues with a damp lint free cloth. Seal all new or bare wood by applying one coat of Clear Gloss Diamond Glaze, to help reduce variations in absorbency which can lead to differences in colour and sheen, particularly when working with coloured topcoats of Diamond Glaze.Floor Sanding: For even appearance, prepare the floor by using an industrial drum sander and edge sander, available from a local hire shop. Always sand in the direction of the grain. A belt sander or orbital sander can be used for smaller areas. Remove all dust from floor and surrounding areas using suitable vacuum equipment. Special precautions should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1970s painted surfaces as they may contain harmful lead Rub down the thoroughly cleaned surface with 120 grit abrasive, vacuum and leave to settle overnight. Remove dust from the surface with a damp cloth and allow to dry. Prime the surface with one coat of Diamond Glaze Clear Gloss. Leave overnight to dry then lightly sand with the grain using 120 grit abrasive and remove dust before finishing with a further 2-3 coats. After degreasing the wood, we often recommend application of very thin oils such as Osmo Wood Wax Finish Extra Thin 1101 which are especially designed for wood types such as iroko to penetrate into the grain and protect the wood without adhesion issues. Test areas also help ascertain the absorption of the product. Test a small clean area first, sand with 120 grit abrasive and dust off. Apply a test patch of Diamond Glaze - if the Glaze leaves uncoated spots, the surface is contaminated and needs to be stripped. If the film formed is unblemished, leave for 24 hours then test for adhesion by scraping with a coin. If the surface is sound, continue with preparation and priming as described above.
