About this deal

Surround Sound Presentation: A good balance is had on this track for the most part, even if it’s not amazing overall. Juice marked the unlikely starting line in the career of David Heyman, a barely 30-year-old Brit who would go on to produce all eight Harry Potter films and other Warner Bros. Who makes a remote about the size of a stick of gum, that doesn't have strong buttons that allow you to use it by feel? However, he takes things to another level in terms of an action prowess and demonstrating levels of suspense not yet adventured into at the time with the canon of Spike Lee. This UHD release of Juice includes all of the extras from the 2016 Blu-ray sans the still photo gallery.

Scheduling the robbery in between rounds of a major DJing contest that Q has been anticipating, the guys end up with the money but also with that owner dead. A new DTS HD Master Audio soundtrack has been added for this inaugural Blu-ray and it’s a perfect compliment to the jazzy, hip hop soundtrack that plays throughout. It’s not a glaring issue, again it’s very brief and I didn’t notice it right away, but when I saw it once at about 30 minutes in I went back and saw it again at around the 15-minute mark and later at the DJ battle.Juice remains a seminal dark coming of age tale and terrific 90s teen-ish thriller full of style, character and charisma. all of these great young actors were handled with the sure hand of Dickerson's steady direction and smart screenplay. Judging by the image Paramount is using the new remaster that Juice used for the 25th anniversary Blu-ray when it came out, and that means a very nice looking 4K UHD disc.

Colors are a tad desaturated, contrast seems fairly strong and given the age of the film I’ve seen many look much worse.Features vintage interviews with the Shocklee brothers about their score, as well as Erik B, EPMD, and members of Cypress Hill speaking about their contributions to the unforgettable soundtrack and why they chose to be a part of the film. It’s not a film that’s out to put a bad light on law enforcement, but there is enough that had been going on (and persists to various extents) that gets reflected in a story by those with experience. We also briefly hear from Cypress Hill and some of the other contributing musicians, many of them rocking Juice baseball caps. At times, the newfound clarity makes some of the parts with Khalil seem like a stage play, but that's why 2Pac and Epps were always the standouts. This seems fitting to the old school rap discussion but I just saw that they released a 25th anniversary edition to Ice Cube's iconic album Death Certificate with 3 previously unreleased tracks.

The audio and video are top notch and the assortment of supplements, a few new, only add to the allure. It's another one like Shout's Halloween that has a MASSIVE extension layer but drops down badly when dealing with the brighter parts of the image and that's not a good sign, it's like the authoring house has switched to a different software package or adopted different settings or something, prolly gets the job done quicker but it knackers it in the process? but unfortunately it didn't yield great sonics; because of Def Jam's insistence on packing tape-length albums from the late '80s on one piece of vinyl, the tracks got ridiculously condensed (as seen on Public Enemy's It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back, LL's Mama Said Knock You Out and Third Bass' The Cactus Album LPs) and as a result the music suffered for it. These are films about a group of people fighting to preserve their souls any way they can, even if that means a life of crime. While early scenes are fairly drab, it is the jackets and movement around the city that allows things to open up. Juice may be 25 years old, but the way you can tell that is from the fashions and slang and music, not in the way the film looks in Paramount's first-rate 1. For more about Juice 4K and the Juice 4K Blu-ray release, see Juice 4K Blu-ray Review published by Martin Liebman on January 7, 2022 where this Blu-ray release scored 3.

He does run out of steam as the track progresses, but dispenses plenty of good information before then.I was a young teen at the time and remember watching it with my friends and being in awe at the rough and tumble tale of cautionary filmmaking, but after rewatching after at LEAST 15 years since the last viewing, some of the 90s elements date the movie quite a bit. It all adds up to a film that remains quite effective, even if it stops short of being a well-regarded modern classic all-around. But given that Paramount put this edition out with new features, so I have to assume that some care was put into this transfer (there is, however, no mention of a 4K treatment). Surround Sound Presentation: This is a front heavy track with a lot of music taking up the rear channels to go along with some mindful ambiance.
