Each player chooses a Hero Card, which are used to keep track of life (HP) and blood (Special Resource). There's no "waiting your turn" rubbish like other games - you put together your play simultaneously, and resolve the spells you've crafted according to the value of your spell. This game is great, I laughed hard reading the background in the first two pages of the instructions, as well as reading and seeing the cards!

Each spell has a maximum of three components, but can contain fewer if the required components were not drawn. I would have preferred all of the symbols to be at the top of the card, though, where they'd have been easier to see at a glance. But you'll be happy to know that I updated my Annihilageddon to now have 1,2, and Gangbangers with all promos and still waiting for FanF-ingTastic Friends cards to come in the mail. Promo Characters (Special Guest Wizards like: Wilhellion, Studd Spellslammer, Abraca-Labrador, Gorzo' and more! You will feel like a five-year-old with your hand in the cookie jar, as if you are doing something wrong, but the result feels fantastic.

These qualities don't really do anything in and of themselves; they just make your spell sound way more super-bitchin'. You then get to draw a Dead Wizard card, and will draw an additional one for every additional round in the current battle.
