About this deal

Grenade tossing was especially beneficial, allowing me to quickly throw a grenade without ever requiring me to move my thumb from the stick. Of course, if you’re taking advantage of the C40’s headphone jack like I was, you’ll burn through it quite a bit faster than that. That alone is incredibly useful, though you can also manually remap any inputs to the UL and UR buttons by holding down one of them and the remap button on the underside of the controller. The adapter uses one of the two USB ports on the front of the PS4, but it should provide a more stable wireless connection with less latency than Bluetooth. It has plenty of features now standard with boutique modded and high-end controllers, like additional, remappable controls and a selection of analog sticks to use.

The Astro C40 TR borrows some of the best design elements from official console controllers for Xbox One and PS4. Astro is not alone here; this is true of every other PS4 pro controller on the market, with the exception of those that are rebuilt using dismantled DualShock 4 units, like the Scuf Impact and similar models. Just double-check the onboard switch to make sure your profile is loaded, or else you might give an enemy a friendly wave instead of a grenade. A deeply recessed micro USB port between the upper switches lets you plug in the C40 with the included six-foot cable for charging, using the gamepad as a wired controller, or customizing it with Astro's software. I adjusted the right analog stick to be less sensitive with slight tilting, but more sensitive with deep tilting. The inability to set step thresholds (a vertical jump in the response curve) also limits configurability as well. The breakthroughs and innovations that we uncover lead to new ways of thinking, new connections, and new industries. With the quick turn of an included screwdriver, the C40’s thumbsticks and D-Pads are interchangeable. When you're looking to sell your Astro device, it's good to know that Trade in is here to provide you with a great rate. Along with the contours and heft, there's a pleasing rubber-like coating and some grooves on the backside of the handles.

The software also lets you customize settings like thumbstick and trigger stop sensitivity with a high level of granularity. With up to 12 hours of battery life, the ASTRO C40 TR ensures that you won't be interrupted by low battery warnings in the midst of an intense gaming session. These inclusions make the controller feel as ergonomic and tactical as any controller I’ve ever used. ASTRO Certified Refurbished products include all required cables, accessories, and manuals included with new products. We use your sign-up to provide content in ways you’ve consented to and improve our understanding of you.Using Astro’s free software, just about every single button on the controller can be mapped to whatever you desire (only the PlayStation, Share, and Options buttons are sacrosanct. Knowing that most controllers start to degrade primarily in the thumbstick department, with rubber flaking off and more serious issues related to drift and dead zones, Astro decided to make custom modules that can be easily swapped around and replaced if necessary. That means they can be pressed from any portion with your middle fingers to activate the remapped commands you’ve programmed on them. One other peculiar hurdle with this controller is that, despite being an official PlayStation-licensed device, the C40 TR can’t turn the console on. It’s not a new innovation by any means, but it’s a welcome addition that most headset and wireless mouse makers have come around to as a way to avoid lag.

This is, obviously, only minimally confusing—but surprising, provided the care given elsewhere in the software. It’s the most durable and premium gamepad I’ve used outside the Xbox One Elite, and Astro’s modular system leaves me confident that I can replace its most vulnerable parts if or when they do eventually fail.If you want a gamepad you can make look like your own instead of feel like your own, you should consider the Xbox Design Lab gamepad, or custom controllers from companies like Scuf and Evil Controllers. It's covered almost entirely in a rubberized matte black material, with a textured black plastic panel on the face to hold the analog sticks, direction pad, and face buttons. Another useful switch is a toggle between wireless and zero latency wired play which is great to give you the slight edge in the fight. The sticks are displayed with large gray circles that indicate the full range of movement as an orange line with a dot on the end.

The weight means this isn’t a controller that can be easily thrown in the backpack and forgotten about. Most players interested in the C40 TR won’t be coming from something like the Xbox Elite, but if they are, the single rear trigger might seem less inspiring. and it comes up as a ps4 controller as long as you use steam you can do all your tweets thru steam no need for the Astro software after it’s hooked up stop windows update in the advance section of updates you can stop them up to 35 days . The UR button mapping also gave me more options during combat, just like in Sekiro, since I could switch to grenades while moving. There is absolutely nothing more frustrating to a user than plugging in their new toy and trying to tinker with it only to have to deal with software that barely works. You can even test your sensitivity options right in the app, allowing you to see exactly how your stick and trigger pressure will register in the game. This isn't a big deal, since the C40 TR features about three to four times the pitiful battery life of the standard PS4 controller. The controller comes with interchangeable thumbsticks and D-pad modules, allowing users to tailor their controller to suit their playstyle. Programming its two rear inputs is as easy as holding down a button in the back, tapping the rear button you want to map and then pressing the face button you'd like it to mimic.
