Personal
Born in All Saints Hospital in Chatham in January 1990, Alan grew up first in Gillingham, then in Rainham, before moving to Twydall in 2000. He moved to Balsall Heath, Birmingham, with his fiancee in 2011.
Education
Alan attended Meredale Infants School, St Margaret’s Junior School and then Rainham Mark Grammar School from 2001.
Having achieved 9 GCSEs at A* to C and 4 A-levels at A to C, Alan started as a Law undergraduate at the University of Kent‘s Medway campus in 2008. He graduated in July 2011 with a class 2:2 LLB (Hons) degree.
Employment
Alan started his working life for a season at Priestfield Stadium, followed by fourteen months at The Co-operative Food in Twydall Green, during which time he took up membership of the Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers (USDAW).
Law
After leaving the Co-operative Food, Alan spent a few months at Dakers Marriott Solicitors in Rochester, expanding his experience from his university course, before starting work at Graham Colley Solicitor, also in Rochester, in February 2010, where he spent most of his time working on Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney.
Upon his return to Medway in January 2012, Alan returned to Graham Colley Solicitor to perform the same roles as before. He also took up membership of the Institute of Paralegals, being elected to the membership grade of “Certified Paralegal” in March 2012.
Politics
After joining the Conservative Party in 2005, Alan supported the three Conservative candidates in Rainham Central during the 2007 local elections and the Rochester and Strood candidate at the 2010 general election. He was active in the two River Ward by-elections in August and October 2010, in particular spending both election days on St Mary’s Island.
On local election day 2011, Alan spent all day campaigning for the two Conservative candidates in River Ward, who held their original seat whilst gaining the other from Labour.
Other Interests
Alan spent six-and-a-half years as a member of the Air Training Corps, working his way up to the highest rank of Cadet Warrant Officer. After leaving, he continued his involvement as a member of the civilian committee at his former squadron, 1039 (Gillingham), until July 2011.
His continued support for the armed forces has also led to his memberships and support of the Royal Air Forces Association and the Royal British Legion. He is an active member of the Medway Towns RAFA Branch and was elected as their Treasurer in March 2012.
